Because of its proximity to Manhattan and fairly reasonable rates, Astoria has become a main attraction to those looking for to escape the hustle and bustle of living in the city. The main streets running north to south are Vernon Boulevard along the East River, 31st St, 21 St, and Steinway St, named after the founder of the Steinway & Sons piano company.
Astoria is serviced by the E, M, and R trains that lead to Ditmars blvd, as well as the N and Q trains that run above ground to 31st St. All of which will have you in Manhattan within 20 minutes.
